The Embassy in Nicosia oversees Congressionally earmarked Economic Support Funds (ESF) for activities that encourage peace and cooperation between the Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot communities. The U.S. assistance program promotes cooperation on activities that benefit the island as a whole and that strengthen the foundation for a broader political settlement.

ESF for Cyprus are administered in Washington by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in coordination with the Department of State. USAID/Cyprus and the Public Affairs Section oversee ESF in Cyprus.
