STUDENT VISAS

Applicants who are not citizens of Cyprus and apply for student or exchange visitor visas (in the F, J, or M categories) must provide detailed information about their background and plans. The required information should be submitted to Embassy Nicosia by e-mail at consularnicosia2@state.gov immediately after the applicant makes his or her appointment on-line for a visa interview. The Embassy should receive this information well in advance of the actual interview date. The following information is required:

-- A detailed resume, including complete educational background, work experience, and all publications. (This information should be given in chronological order with the most recent data first.)

-- All travel outside the applicant's country of citizenship, including countries visited, dates of travel, and purpose of travel.

-- A detailed description of the applicant's proposed study or research in the United States.

-- The name of the professor or researcher the applicant will work under or with in the United States.

-- The applicant's plans for work or employment following completion of the student or exchange program in the United States.

-- Letters of invitation from the U.S. sponsor.

-- Letters of recommendation or a list of references.

-- Information about the sources of funding -- from the U.S. sponsor and sources of funds abroad.

-- Letters of support from financial sponsors.

If the applicant's spouse will accompany the applicant or follow to join, the spouse's resume (including education and work experience), foreign travel, and publications must be provided also.
