Jane Zimmerman welcomed over 20 Macalester College students as they visited Embassy Nicosia to learn more about the Foreign Service and the work that the Embassy does on the island. The Chargé, a Macalester graduate herself, briefed the students on the Cyprus issue and explained to them how she joined and then rose through the ranks of the Diplomatic Corps. Afterwards, the students received briefings from each of the Embassy sections about the work that they do. After receiving this rare glimpse into the life of a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, several of the students said afterwards that the visit will encourage them to pursue a career in the Foreign Service as well.
