The American Embassy's Bicommunal Support Program held a workshop at the Holiday Inn in Nicosia October 26-27, 2007 on conflict sensitive reporting led by Carol Daniel Kasbari, Coordinator of the UNESCO-sponsored Israeli-Palestinian Media Forum. Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot journalists hailing from different media outlets participated in this intensive two-day event, which was launched on Friday with a talk by Kasbari on the role of the journalist in reporting conflict.

Using the example of the Israeli-Palestinian situation, Kasbari facilitated an in-depth and highly productive discussion on media ethics and accountability. On Saturday, by means of the highly interactive process called Open Space, Ms. Kasbari coordinated an exploratory workshop for Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot journalists and media professionals on ideas for establishing a bicommunal forum on conflict sensitive reporting as well as for ameliorating communication and coordination.
