On April 9, Ambassador Schlicher welcomed over 25 students from the Global Learning Semesters Program to Embassy Nicosia for a visit to learn more about the Foreign Service and the work that the Embassy does on the island. The Ambassador briefed the students on the goals of the Embassy and the Cyprus issue, noting that the students were very lucky to be here visiting the island during a time of great interest. Afterwards, the students received briefings from each of the Embassy sections about the work that they do. After receiving this rare glimpse into the workings of an American Embassy, several of the students said that they felt motivated to pursue a career in international relations, possibly in the Foreign Service.
