October 22-26, 2007

Twenty seven Cypriot officials from the Criminal Investigation Department, Drug Enforcement Unit, Emergency Response Unit, Police Prosecution Dept, Customs and the Attorney General’s Office attended a training seminar in Nicosia on Undercover and Controlled Delivery operationsFrom October 22-26, twenty seven Cypriot officials from the Criminal Investigation Department, Drug Enforcement Unit, Emergency Response Unit, Police Prosecution Dept, Customs and the Attorney General’s Office attended a training seminar in Nicosia on Undercover and Controlled Delivery operations. The training was sponsored by the Export Control and Border Security Office (EXBS) and the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The course included interview techniques and interrogation methods for Export Investigations in addition to special operations and appropriate case studies in this investigative area. The training was devised to assist law enforcement officials in their capabilities to investigate, conduct surveillance, and detect and interdict unauthorized transfers of items. These items include technology covered by the control lists of the multilateral nonproliferation regimes and arrangements as well as those items not covered by the lists but which would contribute to weapons of mass destruction or missile programs.
