Without the insights of a tourist guide, significant ancient sites may look like nothing more than stones to those who visit them. In addition, guides have an important role to play in preserving sites and generating interest in them from both local and international visitors. For these reasons, the USAID-funded Capacity Development Program has provided a series of training opportunities in tourist guiding. [more]

Exchange Students Learn About Life in the U.S.
On June 30, the Embassy hosted a predeparture orientation for a group of 11 students from Eastern Mediterranean University who are preparing for a semester exchange program to a number of different U.S. universities around the country. Sondra Sainsbury, an EducationUSA adviser from the Cyprus Fulbright Commission, gave a brief orientation on American life and culture, joined by Public Affairs Officer Jim Ellickson-Brown who offered words of support and encouragement.
